Many people think that doulas only promote or only attend non-medicated, intervention-free births. There are statistics that women who have doula support at their births have fewer interventions.
Doulas and partners can make a wonderful team during labor and in the postpartum period. Partners need support too and the doula is a wonderful source of guidance, encouragement and information.
Doulas of Rhode Island was founded to provide Rhode Island families with access to birth and postpartum doulas and to educate our parenting community about doula services. As we continue to evolve, we strive to increase public awareness about the physical and emotional benefits of doula support during and after birth.

This is a project which gives an overview of the benefits that Birth and Postpartum Doulas provide to families throughout the birthing experience. I filmed it using a Canon 60D and a Rode video mic. I edited with Final Cut Pro.
DoRI is an inclusive group of trained and certified birth and postpartum doulas who respectfully work together in an empowering and nurturing environment.
The DoRI network provides our members with professional development opportunities, compassionate support and relevant resources so they can offer the best possible, non-judgmental care to the families they serve.
The network is open to all area doulas, it offers education, support and marketing opportunities.
